The Sparrenburg
The Sparrenburg is a restored fortress located in Bielefeld's city center district. It sits atop the 180-meter-high Sparrenberg hill in the Teutoburg Forest and towers about 60 meters above the nearby city center. Its current appearance dates mainly from the 16th and 19th centuries. The Sparrenburg is Germany’s northernmost preserved spur castle and is considered a landmark of Bielefeld.
Spindle fountain
For almost five decades, the Spindle Fountain shaped the pedestrian zone on Bahnhofstraße. It was dismantled three years ago but was rebuilt in autumn, slightly relocated, newly paved, and equipped with seating for relaxation.
Kunsthalle | Art Gallery
The Kunsthalle Bielefeld is a museum and exhibition space for modern and contemporary art in the East Westphalian city of Bielefeld, located in the city center district. Designed by the American architect Philip Johnson, the museum building opened in 1968. It is his only museum building in Europe.
